If you’re like most people, you probably don’t spend a lot of time thinking about how to upgrade an apartment or furnish your workplace. After all, it’s not like you’re going to be spending all day there, right? Wrong! The truth is, furnishing your workplace is just as important as furnishing your home. After all, you’re going to be spending at least eight hours a day there, so you might as well make it a comfortable and inviting space.

Renovating Your Workplace Tips

The good news is that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to furnish your workplace. With a little creativity and resourcefulness, you can create a space that is both functional and stylish. Here are some tips on how to furnish your workplace on a budget:

  1. Get creative with storage. When it comes to storage, think outside the box. There are many inexpensive and creative ways to store your things. For example, you can use mason jars to store pens, pencils, and other office supplies. You can also use baskets or crates to store files and folders. Get creative and see what works best for you!
  2. Get second-hand furniture. One of the best ways to save money on office furniture is to buy second-hand furniture. You can find great deals on used furniture at yard sales, thrift stores, and online marketplaces such as Craigslist and eBay. Just be sure to inspect the furniture before you buy it to make sure it’s in good condition.
  3. Make your own artwork. Another great way to personalize your space without spending a lot of money is to make your own artwork. You can frame family photos, postcards, or even print out wallpaper designs that you like. Get creative and have fun with it!
  4. Use plants to add color and life to your space. Plants are not only beautiful; they also help purify the air and improve indoor air quality. Choose low-maintenance plants such as succulents or cacti for easy care (and fewer trips to the nursery).

Whether you’re working from home or in an office, it’s important to create a workspace that is both comfortable and stylish. With a little creativity and resourcefulness, you can furnish your workplace on a budget without sacrificing comfort or style. So what are you waiting for? Get started today!

It is possible to organize a workspace for several people in the basement of your house. Need to make a basement renovation, it is better to hire professionals in their field, who will make an extension of the house, make the basement of the office with all the comforts. It is very popular in Canada.

Having gathered dozens of professional telecommuters in one team, we could not but use their experience to create a guide for beginners: what to grasp and where to look when organizing a workplace for telecommuting by our own efforts.

Body position

Many people have been shown the picture below since their childhood. Think of it as a spoiler. It indicates everything that will be discussed below.

The purpose of workplace arrangement is to ensure a body position that:

  • Is comfortable in itself;
  • Can be easily changed (if you don’t change your posture for a long time, everything gets stale);
  • Can easily leave (it is recommended to warm up at least once an hour, and if it is difficult to get up, you just won’t make yourself do it).

Chair

The main task of the chair is to allow you to move close enough to the table (back in school they recommended to leave no more than 8-10 cm between your body and the table), but not to let you relax in the wrong posture. The basic parameters of a chair:

  • Comfortable, with back and lumbar support. Important: different posture needs different lumbar support, so the chair is really worth choosing for yourself.
  • The angle of the back against the seat should be about 110 degrees in the working position.
  • The edge of the chair should not put pressure on the thighs or squeeze the blood vessels.
  • Not too high: the angle between hip and knee on the back surface should be 95 degrees or more.
  • The armrests should provide support for the elbows in a relaxed position. This point can be replaced by a competent table cutout, but the surface on which the elbows rest should be soft so as not to squeeze the vessels in the arms.

Equipment

Body positioning at work influences not only the furniture, but also the equipment used, or to be more precise, the relative positioning of the input (mouse, keyboard) and output (monitor) devices.

Two fundamentally different situations can be distinguished:

  • working from a desktop computer;
  • Work from a laptop.

Stationary computer

Having all the components separately, it is possible to place the keyboard relative to the monitor according to all the recommendations.

The monitor should be

At eye level. True, not everything is unambiguous here. Neurologists advise that at eye level is the center of the monitor, and orthopedists – that there was the top edge of the monitor. But the head definitely should not be tilted down. This wrong position puts too much strain on your spine, which may lead to neck discomfort or apparent headaches (it seems that your head hurts, but in fact it is your neck).

The position of the keyboard and mouse relative to the monitor is often determined by the table height. Here we have to keep an eye on the angle of the joints in the arms – there should be about 90 degrees at the elbow.

By the way, for all the banality of such a device as a mouse, its choice should be approached responsibly. If there is an excessive bend in the wrist joint, you can earn yourself the so-called tunneling syndrome. You have to choose:

  • either an ergonomic mouse that doesn’t tire your hand;
  • or a trackball;
  • or a trackpad.

But it is true that we cannot give unambiguous recommendations here – a lot depends on personal preferences.

A similar situation is with the choice of the keyboard. The pressure on the buttons should not be too high, so as not to injure the joints in the fingers. Some people prefer mechanical keyboards, but they are quite loud, so the possibility of using them depends on the loyalty of the home.
